What?
Dear friends,
St Paul’s Church Hall needs your help! We're are hoping to raise money to allow us to refurbish the church hall kitchen, making it more efficient and safer to work in.
Whilst we have received some money from grants, we also need to do some fundraising of our own. We need to raise £3,000. So please give what you can and also share this page around.
The hall is extensively used by the local community and the parish for a wide range of activities for all age groups. Many of these activities require the use of the kitchen. The fittings have been in place for over 20 years and are looking very tired.
We therefore want to:
Replace the existing units, worktops and sinks
Add extra wall units to increase storage space
Re-position some of the existing electrical equipment to improve access
Install a new floor. The present floor consists of quarry tiles, many of which are cracked and unhygienic, and prone to slippage. The proposed new flooring is a Commercial Safety Flooring, easy to clean and non-slip.
Please donate towards making the hall a more welcoming environment for all potential visitors, as well as easier to keep clean and tidy.
Why?
We know that St Paul’s Church Hall means a lot to a lot of people around our community. The primary function of the hall is to provide a comfortable, functional and secure environment for outreach and mission, for the parish and the wider community.
The various users come from all ages and walks of life. Clubs for young people and children (Pre-school, Kick Boxing, Karate, Airgun Club) allowing them to develop their talents. While those attended by more mature people (Line Dancing and u3a) provides physical and mental activity, and fellowship. The Thursday Café provides a much-needed accessible facility for fellowship among all ages, particularly the many elderly people who live on their own. In the past two years, the hall has been the home during school holidays for a NLC-sponsored holiday club for disadvantaged young people.
The hall serves as the base for our monthly Café Church, as well as many other church and social events and activities. The church is contributing a proportion of the funds needed for the refurbishment. We look forward to continuing to share this wonderful gift with our community. (1 Peter 4:10-11)
How?
There are three potential scenarios with this call for donations:
One, we raise the £3k (yaaay), which means we unlock grants available to complete the work. We then make some serious improvements to the hall kitchen.
Two, we don’t make the £3k (boo). Anything we can raise will be much appreciated. Work on the building needs to be done and it will just take a little longer but all donations will contribute to the wonderful end result.
Three, we raise way more than £3k! (yippee) Any extra money would go to other much needed works. The hall would benefit enormously from loft insulation, full double glazing, draft-proofing, and cavity wall assessments to make the hall more financially and environmentally sustainable.
Whatever you kindly pledge to us, your money will be used to make the hall a better space for all.
